U.N. Ambassador, Susan Rice, may be in for a wild ride as she seeks to be nominated to succeed Hillary Clinton as U.S. Secretary of State. Today, discussions begin and will focus on her much-maligned explanations of the attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, that killed four Americans including the U.S. ambassador. She faces much work to ensure that enough GOP senators are willing to back her potential nomination.
While she should certainly answer for her words and actions, what if the lawmakers heeded the words of the Apostle Paul?
“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.” Ephesians 4:29
Consider the sayings of the Old Testament’s King Solomon.
“The wise store up knowledge, but the mouth of a fool invites ruin.” Proverbs 10:14
“Whoever conceals hatred with lying lips and spreads slander is a fool. When there are many words, transgression is unavoidable, But he who restrains his lips is wise.” Proverbs 10:18, 19
Speak truth, but use words of wisdom to aid wholeness and pursue the peaceful and proficient path.
