Bible Thought Blessings – Matthew 1:21

Blessings of great joy this week.  Prayer requests?  As always, confidential.

Matthew 1:21, “She will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”

During a miraculous visitation, an angel of the Lord (Matthew 1:20) spoke this prophesy to Joseph, earthly father engaged to Mary, the she and mother of Jesus.  As Son Jesus represents the new covenant or testament from God to His people.  That’s why the second half of the Bible is the New Testament.

Jesus’ main role is that of Savior and saving folks from their sin serves as His primary goal.  What does that mean?

Jesus protects his people (believers) from eternal punishment and prevents the forever separation from a righteous God.  In the meantime Jesus restores a right relation between God and those who choose to believe.

However, He not only saves our souls for eternity, but also ourselves each day from guilt, shame and circumstances that threaten to overwhelm us.

This Christmas Season celebrate the everlasting Promise of His Presence, His Power and His perfect Provision.  It starts right here, right now for those who choose Him.

It is easy for us to remember that Jesus came to be our Savior, but I think we tend to forget that His promises and provision is as much for us today as in eternity. We get the joy of living the lives He has for us each day as we allow Him to work in and through us. Thanks for that reminder today!

Yes! We don’t perish eternally because of God’s great love and gift through Jesus, but neither do we need to perish daily under whatever we face! Blessings!
