1st Sunday of Advent – The Hope – 1 Peter 1:3

Blessings of Hope in the future with God!  Prayer requests?

1 Peter 1:3, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” (Italics mine)

During winter growth shuts down on the ranch. Dormant oaks and cedar elms drop leaves that scatter wind-tossed over the fields and brown wisps of dead grasses dot the landscape. Black Angus huddle together for warmth and wild animals hunker down into previously dug holes. The north wind ushers in cold while flower beds and bushes lie frozen. Winter is upon us and all looks lost and dreary … if we solely focus on what rests before our eyes.

But life is more than what is seen with human eyes. Because of the Lord Jesus Christ your life holds the promise of eternal newness, and hope survives and thrives throughout all brutal winter seasons of life.

No matter how often we hate His mercy offers love.

No matter how sad or depressed we feel His mercy delivers joy.

No matter how much distress we suffer His mercy brings peace and patience.

No matter how thoughtless we behave His mercy yields kindness and goodness.

No matter how harshly we speak His mercy conveys gentleness.

No matter how faithless we act His mercy overflows with greater faith.

No matter how many times we fall His mercy lifts up.

No matter how much we lie to others and self His mercy reveals truth.

His mercy is great and because of His past sacrifice Jesus personally hands over eternity filled with hope. Stand up, grasp His hope, and live triumphantly as you anticipate the celebration of His coming this Christmas!
