The Cardinal – Revelation 1:8, Hebrews 13:8, 1 Peter 5:7

Blessings of godly strength! Prayer requests?

Early in the morning I heard a ‘thunk’ on the back window at the ranch. Birds are apt to mistake the clear glass for open passageways and I figured this was one of those times. I looked out and noticed a brilliant crimson colored cardinal sitting on the concrete porch, feathers puffed out like an oversized down-filled vest. He appeared upright and alert, but remained on the ground exposed and vulnerable as easy prey. Worried about the little guy I periodically glanced out to check his progress.

It’s easy to feel overwhelmed in today’s world when there seems little support for Christianity. The media, entertainment industry, other religions and belief systems, politics, judicial decisions, and even school board choices seem to assault Christian beliefs. We sit stunned and wonder when the world changed so much. We may lash out and demand, “Where is God?” “Doesn’t God care?” Consider these verses.

Ezekiel 34:12, “As a shepherd cares for his herd in the day when he is among his scattered sheep, so I (God) will care for My sheep (you and me) and will deliver them …”

1 Peter 5:7, “… casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.”

God still cares.

Hebrews 13:8, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”

God has not changed.

Revelation 1:8, “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

God still lives.

Much to my relief after 20 minutes the cardinal had flown away. You and I may feel stunned for a time by changing world views and morals, but don’t stay down exposed and vulnerable. Remember Who and What God is and choose to strengthen any weak beliefs. Then you’ll be ready to once again soar with the Lord God Almighty, the God over all.
